Xbox background downloads - the ultimate guide
Does Xbox one download in the background?
The Xbox One will do background downloads as you're using apps and doing other tasks. It will also download updates or check for updates when it is turned off and your power mode is set to 'Instant-On' (default). You can check that by going to Settings --> Power & Startup.
How do I make my Xbox one download while its off?
Click on 'Settings' → 'Power and Startup.' This is where you can set the Xbox to use stand-by mode when you turn it off. It will automatically search for and finish downloads and updates. Choose 'Instant-On Power Mode.' This will keep the Xbox One on standby so it will finish your downloads when the Xbox is off.
- The time has come. You're either ready to trade in your Xbox One, sell your Xbox One, give it away, or just want to get it working as usual. This is why you are watching this article because in this article I am going to show you how to factory reset your Xbox One and the two best ways to do it.
The first method I'm going to show you here is how you can go through with the correct console settings in here with that. Let's get in and get started right away, so this is my Xbox One S All-Digital and I'm actually going through the reset Process for this because I'm actually going to mail this to a friend who will go along to use it instead of me. So you want to hit the home button and go to Settings, and then from Settings to System, then to Console Information and then you want to end up here where it says Reset to Console.
Click that. And you have three options to choose from when you get to this menu here, option one is reset and remove everything. You want to choose this when you just go, you just want to start over, you'll give this away, you sell it, you trade it in, it never comes back or you just want to just start over.
That's the option you want to choose there. Now the second option is a little less destructive, it's reset and keep my games and apps it, your operating system essentially in the Xbox One, but keep your games and apps and so on installed so you can just get back to playing . It's kind of a semi-soft reset.
Cancel takes you straight back to the menu right outside the door. Before doing this, you'll want to make sure you back up any software, games, or anything else to the cloud or external storage that you want to keep before doing this wipe, because once you do this deletion, everything will be gone. So by all means make sure you back up everything, watch my article or n storage for Xbox One, and understand that and where you can somehow back up your information and stuff.
Make sure you do this before doing anything here, if you want to keep anything at all. Now I'm going to do a reset and remove on that case, and that's because like I said, I'm sending this to someone so let's go ahead and tap on that. (upbeat music) And you will see it go blank, and what it should do is somehow do a reset menu that pops up here in a few seconds, either the reset menu or it actually pops up and goes straight into the Delete mode itself and you will see some kind of progress bar, it will show up here.
Give it a few seconds ... (twirls) Okay, after several reboots you should see the console popping up to prepare the console as it goes through the factory reset process.
This can take a while depending on how much content and how many things there is somehow to be deleted. But you can see we didn't have much about it, so it's going through here at a pretty good pace. So make sure you see this screen so that it essentially tells you that you are in the process of factory resetting your Xbox One. (Happy Music) Okay, after everything is set up regarding deletion, here you should see press your Xbox home button, click on it and hit A to connect. (Upbeat music) And this should get you basically bring it back to default, see how my network is connected and you can go through all of the setup all over again here and do any updates, whatever you need to do here go through the complete console setup as we do Don't do it right here, but basically it will factory reset the console and now you can trade it in, send it in, do what you have to do here with this particular method.
Now I'm going to show you the second method here that uses a USB stick to actually do a factory reset. And that's a slightly different method, we'll go over that in a moment. (Twirling) Okay, so to do a factory reset with a USB stick and if we were to use this in a way when you didn't have access to the settings menu or couldn't see what was on the screen.
This would be pretty much the last option we really want to use here. The first thing you want to do is go to this website here, I'll put the link in the description for it on support.xbox.com, well that says beta.support.xbox.com but basically want to you get to where it says 'How to Factory Reset Your Console' on Xbox One. 'You want to scroll here where it says' Reset with USB flash drive'.
From down here, you actually want to download the file you want ... click on it and open it, you want to download this file called factoryreset.zip, which is what I've already done here.
Once you've downloaded this file, you'll also need a USB flash drive with at least four gigabytes of space and formatted for NTFS. So I'd recommend using a drive that you don't have anything on, that you don't have valuable data on, or have backed it up beforehand, so minimize that. I've already opened the folder up here, but I want to format my drive.
You need a PC to do this. The first thing you want to do is right click on the pen drive I have here and I want to hit Format. When I click Format I want to change the format from FAT32 to NTFS.
Because there's nothing here, but give us a little warning, go ahead, press OK. (Soft music) head to the drive format ormat is complete which should only take a few seconds, you can actually right click it again and if you click properties and check the file system type you will see NTFS as soon as you do this confirmed, go ahead and take the entire system update to the front folder and drag it to the hard drive. You want to drag it to the root of the main drive right here.
It should only take a few seconds. And now this is ready for the hard reset with UC flash, more like the factory reset for your Xbox One, so we can disconnect that drive and go to our XBox One over there that we're going to be resetting. (Twirl) From here, all you have to do is insert your USB flash drive into the Xbox. and then on Xbox One X or S you need to hold down the eject button and the bind button at the same time while pressing the power button.
If you are using the All-Digital, just go to select the Bind button and press the Power button at the same time, and you will want to hear two power beeps. At d this is what you want to wait to hear it. It should be about 10 to 15 seconds apart. (Clicks) (happy music) (clicks) And when you hear both of them you can go ahead and go the buttons and it should boot into the recovery menu that you see here and give you a list of options.
And it should be very similar to the option you saw when we did it ourselves in the software here. Now you can too ... should get into this menu, depending on what a BDR Xbox is like, even without using the flash drive, if you have the same choice in terms of setting your XBox and also an offline function? Update, which we will get to in another article shortly.

How do I make my Xbox download in the background?
If your Xbox One is left in the instant-on power mode, you can indeed press the power button on the front of the console and the download will continue in the background, provided you don't unplug the console from the mains, of course.
So if you want to change the background you have a couple of different options when you hit the Xbox button to go to Settings to personalize my color and background and you will see that the game graphics are set to solid color by default We're looking at mine by going home I was just at the store, someone is now viewing the bike which is my default background color, if you open a game and then quit this game you will see your background change too the game you last played Another option that you have when you return to Settings is the success graph, which you click so you can go through all of your games and every success you get in a game , there is actually a work of art. So choose money games, go to an image you like, click on it, then go down to set it as the background for a few seconds d i will say background sets you can do this with any achievement or game you have played another option is now a custom picture so that you can insert any picture you want, be it a photo or an image from the internet or anything whatever you'd like to copy it to a pen drive or USB stick and connect that to your Xbox.
If you don't have the media player app, you will be prompted to install the app on your Xbox now go back to the customimage settings, this time the media player app will start and you should set your USB device as one of the You will see options when you click on it and this will show you all the screenshots you have on your device when you select the one you want, press the menu button on your controller and choose to set the wallpaper now. So when you return home you will see that your custom screen, your custom wallpaper is now set to one of your games so you go into the screenshot, this will show you all the screenshots you have saved, so here I have one from Call of Duty, so you press it and then you press your menu button again more actions and then set it as wallpaper when you go home you can now see that this set is your wallpaper background image. If you want to erase all of these settings and go back to the default settings, just go to remove this custom background and that will set everything back to how it was and you will go back to the default settings as we said before if you found this useful, please share it with your friends and subscribe so you don't miss any of my articles again.
