Welcome to Crosstalk Solutions My name is Chris and today we are going to unpack and configure the Yale Inct48G IP phone or, as Yale Inc says, an ultra-elegant Gigabit IP phone take a look and see what's in the box, as I said, this phone is mainly intended for a high-end phone. It's primarily intended for executives or people looking to spend over $ 200 on their phone. The best price I could find online for this phone was around $ 210 dollars - it's a pretty nice phone, although it's certainly a nice looking phone, so a quick start guide is included.
Here's the phone itself let's put that aside for a moment and see what else is there, so we have a cord for the handset, we have an ethernet cable, we have the base or the back for the phone, the stand, I think you could then say on the other side of the box here we have the handset now thinking of this with this phone no power adapter is included as standard so if you have to plug it in or if you don't have a power supply via ethernet, you should buy a power adapter separately that is the price of the Phone even more. Okay so the base cord of the handset let's take a look at the phone itself So here's the big reveal so here we can see the phone itself ooh nice piece of plastic love to do that, okay let go of that and yes, one thing What you will immediately notice different about this phone is that there are no line buttons on the side because this phone has a straight inch touchscreen display which is really a really nice feature if you are into touchscreen stuff, you know, if you like tactile buttons this probably isn't the phone you want right now, this is an 800 x 480 color display that has dual port gigabit so you can get network information right here and then you are out to your pc on the back you also have an ext port that is for when you want to connect you know how an exp 40 like one of the sidecards that you p plug it in right there you have direct current om can go in there then you have your headset and handset so let's plug this handset in, make sure i don't break the screen by putting it down i don't think this phone is that fragile but this is for one of my clients and not for me personally so I definitely don't want to break it so we plug in the handset cord, it doesn't matter the brand of phone the cord runs through the canal is always a pain in the butt we leave and handsets like allied phones and surely like most people here you have a little dial switch. You can pull this little button out and you can turn it upside down to give a little notch that shows up so the handset can rest and so that can be wall mounted lo and behold, we'll go fine in my case, although I'll just leave it alone, fine and the base goes backwards so slide it in, slide it over note that this also has a USB port on the back of the USB port from what I do understand allows you to put a usb cable with a bluetooth dongle on the end and then this phone will support bluetooth and i am sure you know certain bluetooth dongles that work with this phone we have standards here is your keypad then we have the kind of directional buttons and the menu buttons here is your volume control your volume control speaker phone then you have your headset button your mute button your voicemail button or message box Hold down redial and transfer and then handsfree so many buttons that they show you right on the front of the phone, which is really nice, and then when that comes up you get six softkey buttons I think you know that You can press on the screen on either side of the phone.
The other things about this phone is that it uses 8023 AF compliant p OE, so you need a 48 volt power or ethernet adapter to plug this sucker in, and yes ? that's it let's plug it in and turn it on I plug that into the internet port it should start glowing as we go the phone is now receiving power One thing about this phone i don't know how easy this is to see or not but one Thing about this phone is that the reboot takes quite a long time because I suspect you are familiar with the web GUI or the GUI interface of the bigdisplay very fast reboot cycle this one usually takes quite a long time so the phone is up and us can see the standard display what we have below at the top of the screen you can see turn that off and then you have your menu button and your menu. It will have all the standard yeh link menu items so let's set up this phone with fr ee PBX and I've already created an extension for it so I'll log into the Alink's GUI myself or define the phone's IP address that you just want to press the OK button, so if he pressed this OK button in the middle of the circle with the directional arrows, the IP address appears directly on the phone and in this case it is 192 168 200 point 199 I come to my browser and I will enter 190 168 201 99 in the browser and here the GUI interface of the phone is the password by default, the login data are admin and adminokay and here we have our internal interface, so the first thing we want to do , is to connect it to the free PBX so we are going to come here to visit the account and there are three things we need to know to connect any SIP phone to a SIP server and that is the IP or the fqdn of the SIP server the free PBX in this case the SIP user name and the SIP password, so under account 1 we say that the line is actively activated, and just call it the Line 1 display name can be whatever we want I will say 201 because that is the extension number Register Name 201 Username 201 Password is this big long string here in the details of the free PBX extension we are going to copy and paste the SIP server right here -Host is191 62 205 and confirm that's all. I hit 'confirm' and it didn't even have to restart the phone.
We can now see that I have line 1 here and when I press line 1, I get a dial tone, I can turn up the volume in a nice green LED behind the speakerphone switch it off, switch it on and you can dial directly here. 200 and this number is the phone that's on my desk here so I'll go ahead and hang up that you can dial here with the tactile keyboard you can also dial with the touchscreen now if you want to make your life a lot easier I would certainly recommend configuring this phone for free PBX with the endpoint manager the endpoint manager makes it a lot easier especially for a large number of phones to provision these systems just enter the MAC address they create a template for the t 48 G and then you can restart the phone and it comes straight to the free PBX, if you are not familiar with the Endpoint Manager Endpoint-Manager-Vide o I'm going to put a link in here in the corner so you can check this out, okay so now we have a lot of space in the side note that you now know. I only have the one line that sits by the side here, if I want to add extra lines you come here to the DSS keytab and I can actually select extra line, so let's say line one is linelabel is line 1 and line is line 1 line2 we are going to say the same thing line1 and we are going to select line 1 and then we are going to say line 1 and we are going to select line 1 and a fourth line 1 and line 1 They also have all of these other options so you can speed dial you can make a BLF of someone else let's make a BLF of my 200 extensions, so let's say value 2 00 thelabel will be 200 and extension200.
We're just going to say we see what else we have here, which is Speed Dial Voicemail, if you want to create a voicemail key just do this star 97 and that will bring you into your voicemail and I could say VM like that You? of course also have a message button right down here ohreallyno no message button is right here on the phone itself but that will work too and what we have a direct pickup intercom, so all these different options you have for these buttons that are on the page? of the phone so let's save that, okay and right away we can see a bunch of different buttons popped up, whoop, right there you can see the page below looking down here so now I have four line buttons that are I can select and make a call and then I have aBL f4 extension 200, which in my opinion also works as a speed dial, let's try it, so you press 200, it also works as a speed dial, but when I'm on extension 200 and say we, i sign up g my voicemail or something like messages no message center connect ok so we can see the status for extension 200 is now set to speak so there is this BL F button you could use the BLF button may also use it to emulate your parking space in your parked extensions so you know where a call is from park and then you can just press the kind of I mean this is not a soft key I I think it's a touch button I don't know what you got when it's actually a screen I think it's a soft button that you can press on the soft key key for the parking space extension someone is parked on and then pick up all the stuff by setting these keys and doing the parking or the BLF. All of this is a lot much easier using the free PBX endpoint manager like I said earlier, okay so that's a look at the T 48G how are my overall impressions of this phone um i really like this phone a lot it probably isn't something i personally would have it is a bit it is a bit fancy for me but cert only for people who want a really nice phone or if you want a really nice phone this is a really great option and it is how You know, a little pricey, especially for the Yale Inc line of phones, but that's really not bad, I mean? When you talk about these type of phones with these displays, two hundred two hundred and ten dollars is actually pretty good, some of these types of phones can go as high as three hundred four hundred dollars and that's just way too much if you are only spending on one phone unless the goal is to just try that other executives are spending on the type of phone you have but this is a really good budget executive type phone i certainly prefer something like the ubiquitous u VP that has a nice screen, but doesn't have any tactile buttons so like to have the option to do the tactile buttons and have the screen and the VP doesn't integrate very well with the free PBX His phone is certainly going to get a lot better with the free PBX -Be integration, it's a decent price, and it's a really solid, well-built phone, so yeah, I'm a fan of the t48 favor t me this article please give me your fingers crossed and if you want to see more articles like this please click on subscribe, thank you for watching
