Onenote remove hyperlink - how to fix

How do I unlink a hyperlink?

To remove a hyperlink but keep the text, right-click the hyperlink and click Remove Hyperlink. To remove the hyperlink completely, select it and then press Delete.

This one really blew me away.

Imagine receiving an Excel file from your colleague, opening it, and finding that it contains a lot of external links. You want to check exactly what these are and whether or not they are still valid. One option now is to go to the Data tab, click Edit Links, and check the position of each link individually.

Or you can get the full list of links by entering this formula. If you want it to be vertical, just add it to the transpose function. Crazy, right? That's what I thought when I got Bob's message.

He combined the past with the future. (mumbles) with Excel 4.0 macros.

When I asked him about it, he sent me this email that the email was not deleted. That's the whole email. What I like about Bob who needs the content box? Long story short, I got mine here Viewed page 92 of his book, let me show you what I found. (Upbeat music) Now those old style Excel 4 macros are still around and if you look at the Microsoft support page it says that Excel s still supports them, but they encourage you to migrate to VBA.

Instead, we're going to combine them with dynamic arrays. Now I'll show you two practical examples. Number one is to get the list of all the external links that are used in this workbook, and in the second example we get a list of all the filenames that are in a particular directory.

Let's start with links. In this sample workbook I have external links and I can see that because the moment I opened it I got this security warning, the auto-updating of links has been turned off, so now if you look closer at the Data tab for example, I am referring to a cell which is in a file on my desktop, in the budget tab here I am referring to another file. My goal is to get the list of all of these workbooks on this sheet right here.

To be able to use these Excel 4.0 macros we must first create a name for them on the Formulas tab and click on Name Manager, then click on New. Here we can give our function a name.

In this case I'll call my Get Links. Below refers to here we need to refer to the Excel 4.0 macro that is called Links.

So right away, type in Links, open the bracket, close the bracket, and then hit Okay, and then let's just close that. Now all we have to do is type in the name we gave it, which is Get Links, I can see it down here and hit enter. I get a list of all external links.

The reason I have a spilled area is because I have the latest version of Excel in the Insider Edition, which means that I have Excel's new calculation engine, which is dynamic erase. So I don't have to wrap this up in another formula like the index formula. Now if I want this to be vertical, which would be easier to read, I just have to put it in the transpose function.

And this is a full list of the external links used in this workbook. That way I can always check that my formulas reference the correct workbook. Now what happens when we add a new extension? rnaler Link? So I have another workbook open that is already saved on my desktop called Book 1.

Let's just enter a number and copy it, go back to our existing workbook and paste it as a link Special and click Insert Link. Now that I have pasted this this has not been updated. In order for this list to be updated, I have to force the calculation.

Control, Alt, F9. The moment the link here is updated. Now let's take a look at our second example, let's get a list of filenames in a specific directory, again I need to create a name for this function so I go to the Name Manager, click on a new name I give this to Get Files, and for references, enter equalsfiles and open the bracket.

Now that I want to point to a specific folder, I will point to B3. There I have the folder path. Now close the bracket, click OK and close.

If I just start typing get files and press enter, it won't work. The file names that are in this directory, I have to work with wildcards. So I need to add the backslash here and then use the wildcard character which is the asterisk.

As soon as I do that I get the list of files spilled horizontally vertically I'll put them in the transpose function. And that's the list of all files. I have Word files in there, I have macro-enabled files, and I have regular Excel files.

This also helps me keep an eye on a specific folder. So let's say I'm waiting for my colleague to add the latest data. I update this before I go to lunch, so Control, Alt, F9, it's not there yet. (Clock is ticking) I go to lunch, I come back, I update the controls again, Alt, F9 and Latest data are there.

Now what if I want to sort this out? All I have to do is plug my formula into the new data sorting function (mumbling). So close parenthesis, press enter, I have the sorted list of my files. What if I want to limit this to Excel files only? All I need to do is update my path.

Now I'll add the extension I want. So XLSX, hit Enter, and that's my new list. Don't forget that these are still macros.

If you want to save this file and keep the new functionality, you need to save it as an XLSM file.OK so you can use Excel 4.0 macros along with dynamic erasing.

Hope you enjoy Bob's new discovery as much as I do. That's it What I love about Excel, there is always something new for all of us to learn. If you agree, keep your thumbs up.

How to convert text into a clickable link.

This article is for anyone trying to post on a discussion forum, maybe creating a Word doc or a Google Doc, and want to convert some text into a clickable link. So I made this article to show you an easy way to do it. The summer class I teach uses the Moodle platform.

intel recertification service

And I wanted to make this article to show my students how to easily create a clickable link on a discussion forum, so I'm just going to read the message I prepared for this article, I know some attendees had problems to create a self written link and find that this term is not searched very well on youtube, hope that making this tutorial article helps. The process is similar whether you're creating a discussion forum post or creating a Word or Google Doc. Just look for the chain link icon or a menu option to 'insert a link'.

I'll see that there is an icon in the little edit box that It has a chain link. And that is what the article or all tutorial articles refer to when it says look for the chain link icon. If you're using a screen reader it might just say 'Link' or you might have a menu that means Insert Link, why do we want that? We want to avoid using the 'click here' text type and instead use some kind of descriptive text to indicate where the link takes the reader.

The first thing I want to do is highlight the words that I want to turn into a clickable link, I'm going to highlight the words 'improve screen reader accessibility to make URLs more readable'. And I know I want to link to the WebAim website that talks about links and hypertext. So in my blog post, I have already marked the text, I have prepared d another tab that leads to the website I wanted to link to, I just click on the top of the website that is marked.

I'm going to press command C to copy this website. I'll go back to the tab where My Discussion Forum Post is and remember, I've already highlighted the words that I want to convert to clickable text. Now that it's highlighted, here I go to the chain link icon.

To remove a single tag, right-click it, and click Remove Tag. To remove multiple tags, select all of the text containing the tags you want to remove, and then press CTRL+0 (ZERO).

(Happy Music) - If you are using Microsoft OneNote, let me introduce you to tags.

No, not these types of tags, but the types of tags that will help you find things and stay organized when using your OneNote notebook, create custom search criteria and add them to all of the other great organization and search tools in the program, and you can find and understand pretty much anything in your notebook. In this article, I'll show you how to create and use tags. And oh yeah, we adapt, so if you have too much stuff and too many places I want to introduce you to tags in Microsoft OneNote notebooks - To use a tag all I need to do is find an area in my notebook that I want to mark, I can click on the 'Tags' section of the 'Home' tab then go to the 'Tags' section.

When I click the little drop-down menu, I'm presented with a list of tags to choose from. And I can just pick the one that works for me, case important. This will add that tag asterisk to the entry, and if I need to find the entry later from this one or another notebook, I could just go to the search on the left.

Enter the name of the tag or choose from a list from tags in the notebook that appears at the bottom of the list, in which case I will type the name of the tag and when I hit enter it will find all of my important tags including the entry I just created . When I click on this entry I get to this notebook on this page and straight to the highlighted entry page. I can also use custom tags.

And I can do this by going back to the tags group and clicking the little drop down or click combo button and then create a new custom tag at the bottom of this list, when I select that, a list of All the tags available in the program will appear on the right and I can just select the icon I want to use for my custom tag . In this case, since this is the contact, I choose the little head means contacts. When I've selected, the icon shows as selected and I can just give the tag whatever name I want.

In this case, I'll call it Contacts, when I hit the Create button below, OneNote will create a custom tag for me. And I can use my tag by just highlighting my entry and then going to the tags section and then selecting my custom tag at the bottom of my list. And like the previous tags, I can find them just by going to the search window.

Off Select from a list of available tags or type the name of my tag and when I hit enter it will now appear The tags I have are called Contacts. In this case only one will be displayed. When I click on it, I get to the notebook on this page and straight to that entry.

To remove a custom tag or manage your tags, you can just go back to the Tags section, click on the little drop-down menu, and then at the bottom of the list you will see Delete Custom Tag and when you click on it it will pop up a list of all custom tags that you have created in the program. And to delete this tag, just click on it in the list, you will get a confirmation and if you click yes, the custom tag will be removed from your list even though it is is still available next to the entry. You can also see a list of all the tags that are used in the notebook by going to the Tags section again, clicking the drop-down menu, and then selecting Used in this notebook, when you click on it, a list of all of yours will appear at the top of the screen custom tags.

Pretty much painless and fun. I think you will find that using tags is another great way to organize and find things that you have stored in your OneNote notebooks. See you for our next article.

Thank you for participating. Good luck searching and I'll wait if all I can do is find my car keys!
