Microsoft cloning software - solutions to the problems
Does Windows 10 have cloning software?
The best solution I have found for cloning and restoring a Windows 10 installation is the free EaseUs Todo Backup. EaseUs Todo Backup can not only restore a backup of your Windows 10 installation, but it can also do so to a non-corresponding partition layout. You can download a free copy here.
In this article I am going to clone the hard drive in this computer.
This means that in the event of a catastrophic failure, you will have a fully functional hard drive that you can simply plug into your computer and restart the computer. In order to clone the hard drive on the computer, we need a suitable target drive. We could use both.
They look very different. This is a 3.5 inch desktop computer that is 500 GB in size.
The smaller one is a 2.5-inch computer that is usually found in a laptop, and it's 600GB in size. We could actually use either of these two, but I'll actually use the smaller one.
By far the easiest way to connect a hard drive to a USB is to use a cable like this. This is a SATA to USB 3 cable. What you need to do with it is plug it into the hard drive like this, you can then just plug the USB connector into the USB port on the computer.
You will notice that the cable is a bit short so I just put that on top of the box and then we won't damage the cable or the USB port. This is the easiest way to do it with such a cable. If you don't want to do this, you can use the SATA cables already in your computer or purchase an additional SATA cable.
The easiest way, however, is to use a USB to SATA cable. You can also use an ICY dock, if you want, you basically have to connect the hard drive to the computer in order to clone the hard drive. So now I turn on the computer.
I am going to click on this pc now. You can now see that the new drive is listed as an ADATA or K drive. This is the drive I'll be using for the clone.
You will find that it is 100GB larger than the source drive or the C drive in the computer. The C drive usually contains the operating system in some computers. This is much easier as there is only one hard drive.
You can see that the K drive is almost full, before we can clone to this drive we need to format it. So right click the drive you want to format, then click Start and then click OK. When this message appears, just click Yes.
This now takes a few minutes. The software I'm going to use to clone is completely free. I will include a link to the download page in the description.
I have used this software several times and it is very easy to use even with older operating systems like Windows 7. When the formatcomplete window opens, you can click OK and close this PC. This is, of course, my computer if you are using Windows 7.
It is a good idea to close any open programs as this could interfere with the clone. Cloning a hard drive can take several hours, depending on the size of the hard drive. We are now going to open AOMEI Backup by double-clicking the icon.
This is a free version and it works really well. Once that loads, I click on the clone and then click on the hard drive clone. You then need to select the hard drive that you want to clone.
In most cases this will be drive C. It is very important that you get the correct source and destination disks. Now click on Next and select the destination disk, which in this case is disk K.
Click on it and then click Next. Read the warning, then click Yes. When cloning a hard drive, you will either need a hard drive the same size as the source hard drive or a larger hard drive.
You now have a few options, sector-by-sector clone option will clone all sectors regardless of whether they are in use or whether they are bad sectors. This option takes much longer on a solid-state drive. If you are cloning from a smaller hard drive to a larger hard drive, you will need to click Edit Petitions on the destination disk.
Copy without resizing partitions can be selected when cloning a hard drive or SSD to the same destination disk. However, if you are cloning to a larger hard drive, you need to select the Add unused space to all petitions check box, otherwise your destination drive will be the same size as your source drive and will end up wasting space on the destination drive. Now click on OK.
Now check that the information is correct and then click the startclone button. If you want the computer to shut down when it finishes, you can check the box for Do the cloning at night. It will now take a few hours for the computer to clone the drive.
Once this is at 100% we can click Finish and close the program. We are now going to eject the drive, disconnect the hard drive, and then shut down the computer. So this is the hard drive I just unplugged, and I'm going to remove the SATA-to-USB cable now.
I happen to know that this computer uses an SSD to boot which is behind that bezel, so I'll just unscrew and remove that side bezel. Now what we need to do is unplug the two connectors and put them in the drive we just copied and we're really just putting that in the computer just to test if it works. Once we know it's working, we can shut down the computer and switch back immediately.
I now turn the computer back on and if it works properly we should be able to boot from the new hard drive. As you can see, that worked perfectly, now I'm going to turn off the computer and replace the hard drives again. How to clone a hard drive.
If something happens to your computer's hard drive, you'll always have a fully functional backup. It is a good idea to keep this article in a safe place, it will now be kept in an anti-static bag and fire safe. Hope you found this article useful, if you have and haven't done it before.

In this article I will show you how to clone your hard drive from one main computer to several computers from work to doso I will take the time for this little article there are several ways to do this we use a program called fog free online coast but it is in that case i'll show you how to do it use the windows tool already built in here we have our main master image for you to go to the control panel, if you are in the control panel you will be backing up your computer as this System Image is already built into Windows 7 and you get this little window and it gives you three different options that you can use to back up your image in order to back it up to our hard drive that is already attached to a CD or DVD that like Tons of DVDs or on a network location you can do the sharing and username if a password is required in which case we will ours e use high tech hard drive and after a while i will show you why it is high tech, so it will confirm the backup your settings are these two partitions we will make a backup or the drives actually it says windows save in the backups so it will be fixed to create a backup here are my high tech hard drives so let's fast forward, when you are done creating the image it will ask you what do you want to create a recovered DVD, you will say choose Create Disc In my case, I already have one created so I just hit Cancel and it'll say the backup completed successfully.
You go ahead and close these, shut down your computer and as you can see do I have two? Partitions because I'm going to do a special setup on my campus at my school so we'll just go ahead and shut down that computer or master computer or master image, we'll plug in another one so we can plug in our high tech card trick the hard drive and us turn them on and we'll boot from the hard drive we created earlier, so all of these things are already installed in Windows Professional. I don't know about a home or any other add-ons will boot from the DVD and it will load the files, so it's a little shaky because I'm running this in upfast-forward so I don't want to go through the whole two minutes it takes to load ups, so after loading you'll get up, make sure you have your hard drive driver, your device, that you save your image on your computer so that it looks for Windows installations or actually Windows images that you use I should have forwarded this as well, but it's already running too ok anyway, so it's Windows 7 operating system stain the partition size was what was found on the current computer, but we'll save your computer from another system image backup with that it looks for it and it is found on Abrah bin 80 my external hard drive select the image so it will be the location there where you can specify the drivers, if you need this but it is not necessary because it is the same type of computer and everything is the same model so we choose that it has already been found elsewhere you can choose an image from the network or other places so that You need to load additional drivers and for advanced i mean i didn't touch this so i am not related to it so i just hit ok next, usually i leave the defaults as they are it takes the opening by a couple Cal 12 on It will ask you if everything will be formatted if you want to continue you can go back and get your files. It will take a while to rebuild your computer, once it finishes it will ask you if you want to? Now to restart your computer you can go ahead and click yes or wait for it to do it by itself, so yes once it finishes it will load exactly as the other is about to do ea clunk because it's the same image so you can log in with your username and password as soon as it boots up.
Remember we had two different partitions so one is my local scene and the other is going to be an atemp folder because we are going to be using freezing i will go to the temp folder the X thought and that is a difference or if you are using familiar with a freezer oh that's what we're using so in this case we have a two hundred and a few gig hard drive but to make the image smaller I went to this management before idid manage the image and shrink the file not the files let's set the partition size I made it smaller so I wouldn't take that much time so it's a 29 gig partition where it's 200 and a few gigs of unallocated space for us to use don't have to worry about this partition. Have fun cloning your computer to another computer, thanks for looking

When it comes to user-friendliness, you must consider the “noob factor”: the simpler the “cloning procedure”, the better, especially if you’re not very tech-savvy.
