Hi folks, Daniel here with another technical guide for you. This time in Microsoft Outlook to troubleshoot problems and how to reset your profile to see if that fixes the problems. So there are several steps you can take very quickly beforehand to fix your Outlook.
Before that, just to be clear, some people say my Outlook is not working and by outlook.com don't mean Microsoft Outlook, the program we are talking about speaking in this article, I don't know why Microsoft chose to do this. It has the same name but that's how they did it and I get so many calls about it.
So much confusion that I have to ask what it looks like every time? What do you mean, your Outlook is not working, using a web browser or the program? Still don't know? So it's difficult to fix the problem without looking at it and seeing which one it's being talked about. So in this article, I'm talking about the program you install on your computer, not a website. and if you have a problem with your email in this program, you can check your add-ons and turn off all add-ons to see if they are causing a problem.
You can run it in Safe Mode by clicking the start button and just typing Outlook.exe / safe. You will then be asked to enter your profile.
Open it and see if the problems have been resolved. If it works with the new or safe mode, you may need to create a new profile or one of the add-ons is an issue. So if you need to create a new profile I'll show you how to do it.
Stay close. Okay, so to start with. We go to the start menu and enter control.
You see the control panel and can open it from there. Enter email to search for email and we'll open Microsoft Outlook. From here you can manage your email accounts and data files, but what we really want is show profiles.
When we do that, we'll see the one profile that I have. Actually, it would be set so that this profile is always used. So I accidentally had this on from my previous failed article capture.
So you didn't really see me. Okay if you go in here you have your profile and if there is only one then that profile will always be used. However, we want to create another profile and when we open Outlook ask ourselves which profile we want to use.
So we'll change it when prompted, go to Add, give it whatever name you want to call it, and hit OK. Then you need to create your email address from here and you can run the wizard here to set it up normally. All settings are adopted from the settings of the previous profile.
So I can't tell you what these settings are. It depends on your email address and all of that. Now, if we cancel, we will get a message here that you can click OK if you want to create a profile without email accounts.
That's cool, we wanna do that. So we got the new profile, but the problem is that we still can't open Outlook with that profile without setting up an email account or at least saving a data file in it. But at least that's the bottom line.
So when we press OK. We start Outlook. Here you can see that we are asked to use a profile.
So I can choose a new profile. When we open that, you'll be asked to set it up here if you haven't set up your email account in the control panel before when you set up the new profile. I would suggest that depending on the problem you are having in Outlook, you have multiple email accounts that you check in multiple data files or local PST files.
Just add the one main account in which the problem occurs. Correct the problem. First one and then see if this works in this new profile.
Then you'll know the issues a new profile has fixed and you can move on to adding your other email accounts and other data files. That's it, and resetting Outlook is really just one step here to create a new profile. How do I fix update in progress in Outlook 2013?
To resolve the issue, try Online Repair: Control Panel > Program and Features > Microsoft Office > Change > Online Repair. If this doesn't work, please uninstall Office and reinstall it.
This affects Outlook Microsoft Outlook and I sortedit categorized under software problems Outlook failed Fix Outlook could not be started correctly Error what to do If Microsoft Outlook stops working with the error message, Outlook could not be started correctly. If you want to enter Safe Mode, make sure that you try restarting your computer first.
If you're still having this problem, do a repair in Microsoft Office. Here's another potential tip if you have internet access. based email at your workplace corporation, etc.
You can go to Outlook.com or again if your employer has their own web based email you can use it quickly in an emergency and then when you have access to your email if it's not an emergency anymore then you can go back and try to fix it but if you don't have web based email then maybe you have another computer you may be able to use a coworker's computer, to access your email, or you have more than one computer and then you can set up your email account on that computer and hopefully at least access your email in case of an emergency Control Panel for adding programs in programs mark for add / remove then right-click on a version of Office that you have installed select Change and then select Repair in this Office Se tup dialog box Click Detect and repair errors in my Office installation then click Uninstall We only want to use an Office repair repair tool to change Outlook and not change any of your Outlook settings by reinstalling Office, and these instructions were included in the Written essentially for Microsoft Windows XP, but there are similar steps on Vista7 and Windows 8 and then there is a short tutorial from Microsoft with similar instructions that you can skip to the 'Repairing or reinstalling Office programs' section and then a smaller one last tip Igu ess if you are using Windows 7 Add / Remove Programs doesn't mean Add / Remove Programs anymore, it is now called Programs and Features, so in Windows 7 go to Programs and Features and then, even though it's still in Control Panel, go You go to Control Panel, but instead of it says Add / Remove Programs, it si nd Snow Programs and Features so let's have this link open already and this is an official Microsoft article on how to repair and reinstall Office 2003 programs and features, which is the same as adding and removing Admiral programs on Windows XP so they have a quick summary and then more information I won't go through this section here, it just tells you how to install individual features in Office 2003 and then add a link to my blog post in the description of this YouTube article so you can get to this Microsoft article quickly It Might Be Productive For You It shows you how to install individual features in Office2003, but that's not really part of this particular article so I conclude that it is just a brief summary and then this page only explains how to install individual functions, how to repair it, and then we can fold that up so let's get to the instructions and it tells you features, discipline, office 2003 products ok so scroll down to this section on how to fix or reinstall office programs and we don't want them be sure to reinstall as this may change some of your settings. So now we just want to try to repair Outlook so that it works normally so that you no longer receive this error.
This procedure detects and repairs problems related to installed Microsoft Office programs such as registry settings and missing installation files. This procedure does not repair personal files such as worksheets or templates The following two methods describe two ways you can use the Detect and Repair tool to identify and fix problems with installers. Method number one is to run Detect and Repair from the Help menu, so step number one is in the Help menu any Office program, click Detect and Repair.
So if you can open Microsoft Outlook but it just doesn't work properly, you can go to the Help menu and then select Detect and Repair Then it says there is a hint about restoring program shortcuts in the Start menu, check that the box, Restore my shortcuts when repairing it, is checked A second method of doing a repair is this method of running the Add or Remove programs detection and repair tool so you go to the Control Panel, then you go into AddRemove Programs so number one click Start and click Then on Control Panel number two double-click Add or Remove Programs click Microsoft Office 2003 and then click Change number three in the Microsoft Office 2003 Setup dialog box click New Install or Repair and then click Next number four click either Office reinstall or click on Detect and repair errors in the myoffice installation and then click on install we want to repair select we do not necessarily want to perform areinstall, not you I would recommend running arepair three times you do not want to reinstall anything we only want to perform a repair if it does after three times not working either via the help menu or via add / remove programs then you can all then i think if you want to be good it is obviously your choice which you can then reinstall and then maybe will fix your problem, but For now, we only want to repair if you detect and want to repair problems in your Microsoft Office installation, click Restore to select Start Menu Shortcuts checkbox to rebuild your Microsoft Office shortcuts, and then you could do whatever you want might do some registry and filesystem cleaning tools like cclea ner run a registry scan run a cleanup tool You could do this before running a repair, which you can run through a registry scan and a system file clean up within whatever you choose to get a pro, you see prefer cleaner, but there are plenty of others out there that just make sense before either arepair or do a clean install, so hopefully and then again these instructions are essentially for WindowsXP and then Office XP also known as Office 2003, but this one Tips could surely help you do similar fixes on Vista 7 Windows 8 and then Office 2007 Office 2010 and then etc all the latest and greatest, so hopefully after this article or after some of these tips you can fix Outlook and you will be on your E -Access emails so you're always on an internet computer comm for other possible fixes for your most common compu can search for problems. Thanks for listening
