How can you change the color or theme in Microsoft Outlook? Hi, I'm Dawn Bjork, The Software Pro.
I am also a Microsoft Certified Trainer and Certified Outlook Specialist Change the display, color or design in Microsoft Outlook. Depending on your version of Outlook, your design options can include colorful, dark gray, white, and black. To change your Outlook theme to dark mode or another theme, choose File> Office Account.
In other Office applications, it can just be Account. You can also find this option under File> Options and then General, My Current Office - Design is colorful. This design shows the application bar as well as the backstage view with the color of the specific application.
For example blue for Outlook and green for Excel. I work with Outlook 365. So you may have other options with an older version of Outlook.
Let's see what happens when we switch to black theme. Here we have the Office theme and now select Black. We always see the change in our backstage view.
And here is the look from Outlook. The dark mode or black theme is a way to change the default light background color to a darker color, which is often easier on the eyes in low light, or can be n times be your preference if you don't want a user interface that is so bright, especially if you spend long hours at the computer. Notice how this change affects the way emails are displayed.
In this view I opened the review windows, and in the review window, here is this option to toggle the background. So if you select the sun it means I'll toggle the background back to white or turn on the lights and if you want to switch to night view or dark mode, just select the moon. You may also see this ad.
This dark mode or theme is shown in everything you do in Outlook on the right side to change the background. You may find this easier to do when composing simply because there is more contrast. How you want to work with Outlook is entirely up to you.
Now, if you want the black theme but don't want it to be the background of new and existing messages, select File> Options. Go to the General tab at the top, then check this box, Never change the background color of the message. This option is only shown for the black theme.
So if you choose your next email message, and any message in the future, the lights will stay on. This change also applies to new messages. For a slightly less dramatic change, you can experiment with the other options like dark gray.
Here's a bonus option, it isn't a dramatic change yet, you might want to try it out. You can find the background in the same places as the design or the color changes. Once again I went to File and Office Account and I'm going to change the Office theme first.
Remember, these are the only options we have now, going to white because it will be a little easier to see this Office background change. And here is the office background. Well these are pretty subtle.
Don't be too excited but it might be something you might be interested in and you should try, so watch out when I hover over it but in the top right corner we'll see an example or a preview of these options For these I'll select stars and go back to Outlook. Note that background will then appear here in the header. How will you use these simple options to customize Microsoft Outlook by changing the theme and background? How do I change outlook to classic view?
RELATED: How to Toggle Outlook Between Touch and Mouse Mode
Start by clicking on the small down arrow icon found in the far right of the ribbon. This arrow acts like a toggle to switch between the simplified and classic ribbons whenever you want.
I don't have to sacrifice a workspace to easily reach my messages or other items in Outlook 2007.
I can customize the Navigation Pane to keep the folders and views I use most often just a click or two away, whether the pain is expanded to where I can see it all or minimized to create more workspace Outlook one size doesn't fit everyone For example, this area where I see my email folders is too small I want to see more of my email folders, so I drag the divider bar down until the view buttons have two icons Collapse at the bottom of the window that I can see There are a lot more email folders now and I can also customize the view of these buttons and icons by clicking Configure Buttons. I can add or remove or rearrange things like buttons. Another way to see more folders in email view is to minimize Favorite Folders and Favorite Folders so that I normally keep them open, but it's easy to collapse them if needed when I really have room for my mail folders I can remove favorites orite folders altogether, but I like the visibility of my high priority folders here so I'll keep it for now.
One of the improvements I like in Outlook 2007 is that with one click I can minimize the navigation area to an optimized bar on the side of my MainOutlook window that frees up many properties a single click on the vertical navigation area opens a flyout with the contents of the navigation area for this view for example I can open my calendar from here check out this week's appointments and then switch to next week's appointments click the button again and there you go a smaller version of the view button will be below displayed in the minimized navigation area so that I can always easily switch between the views and find the information that I need this time I want to check a phone number for one of my contacts I can adjust even more in the minimized navigation area when I return in the mail view these come Folder known before there are the same folders that appear in my favorites folders, clicking a folder button in the minimized navigation pane changes the view in my Outlook window to show the contents of that mail folder I spend a lot of time on the lip wear project, so I'm going to make some quick adjustments so that I can access the litterare mail folder in the minimized navigation area with one click a folder I just drag it into its place from the mail folder list below Moving the folders here does not remove them from their original place in my main mail -Folder list A folder in the favorites folders mirrors its counterpart in the main list.Messages are still saved in their original folders, but I can open them and view them in favorites folders fade out by pull the Splinter bar all the way down, it is still not there. I expand the navigation area again and move the illuminated wear folder up in the favorites folder list.
Unlike in the mail folder list, folders and favorites folders do not have to be arranged in alphabetical order so that I can arrange them as I like now, if I minimize the navigation window, the folder button is successful I want my calendar to be available as well, so that I can easily check my lighted hangouts I click Configure Buttons Click Navigation Pane Options and change the order to move the Calendar button up I Drag the divider bar up and there is the View button how I want it to be. Now I have quick access to my email messages and can easily review the meetings I have scheduled with you. I love the flexibility of the Outlook 2007 navigation window that allows me to see and get what I need when I need it
