Hello friends, and welcome back to our channel The Teacher.
If you recently upgraded your system from Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, you may find a folder on your system partition named Windows.Old.So, in this article are we going to discuss what the Windows.Old folder is and how to delete it? Stay tuned and keep looking! The Windows.Old folder is not something you might only find in Windows 10, if you have an earlier one If you were using version of Windows and bought a newer version of Windows and then upgraded, you may have a Windows.old folder on your PC.
This folder is created automatically when you upgrade from one version of Windows to another. The Windows.Old folder contains all files and data from an earlier version of Windows, and it can be used to upgrade your system to an older Windows version.
Restore version. When you open this folder, you may find all of the user files and other installed program files in this folder. She just keeps the latest version. so if you later decide to revert to the previous version or build.
However, remember that Windows will only keep it for 30 days and after that period it will automatically delete it to free up the space. One interesting thing here is even though I did a clean install of Windows 10 on my system, but I still have this folder on my system partition since I updated Windows to the latest build 11099 a few days ago. So not only will this folder help you revert to the previous version, but you can also go back to the previous builds.
You can decide within 30 days whether to either stay with the current version or restore or roll back the build, otherwise Windows will automatically delete them after 30 days to free up space. To revert to the previous build or version you can go to the Settings window from the Start menu and then click Update & Security. Click Recovery in the left side panel and you may see various options in the right side panel such as: B.
Go back to Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, or even the previous build, and you can do that by clicking the Get started button under Going back to a previous build and then following the on-screen instructions. Ok! If you want to keep the current version or build, you can also find out that after the upgrade Windows did not copy all the files that were previously available in your user account, then you can dig into the Windows.old folder and here the Users folder from which you can cut or copy individual files and then paste them in a safe place.
When you're sure you no longer need this folder and you want to delete it, click the Start button, click All Apps, then click Disk Cleanup under the Windows Administrative Tools folder, or type disk cleanup directly into the Start Search. Select the drive where Windows is installed with the Windows icon, usually it is drive C. Press the OK button and Windows will take some time to calculate all the temporary files on the drive.
You can also watch our article watch on using the Disk Cleanup tool, here you will now need to hit the 'Clean up system files' button as the previous Windows installation files are not available in the list above, you will need the Windows drive again and then click the OK button, and when you scroll through the list you will find options for previous Windows installation (s) and the space they are taking up on your hard drive. Tick Previous Windows Install (s) and if you want to clean up other temporary files, you can too. Click the OK button and now you will have more free space on your partition.

Welcome to this Windows channel, and today I'm going to show you how to remove all the files that were left behind when you upgraded to Windows 10 from your Windows 8.1 or Windows 7 computer, which is less disk space than before and that's because Microsoft Windows when upgrading, puts your old installation in a folder on your hard drive called Windows dot old and you can see it if you use this PCtool and check your C drive, which contains everything your previous installation had and this is how your Windows 10 computers will actually go back to the old computer, the old OS if you don't like it, but if everything is going well and you don't want to go back, and that is the question because if you remove the old Windows files, your computer won't be able to Going Back In time, you may not be able to go back to your old operating system, it's time to check it out if you ever think about that s might be missing in the files folders pict ures and so on you can go through it but if everything is ok and you just want to remove and reclaim all the space, just go to the bottom left and just type this pc in the search click on this PC at the top right click on your C drive click on Disk Cleanup to first look for files that can now be cleaned up.
One thing can take a long time, for example if I did this the first time it took about 20 minutes, but even worse, you have to click on Clean up system files and this is how the old Windows installation files appear and this one took a very, very long time lasted. Don't worry, it won't get stuck if it's very long. After checking the system files, you will see that you can now click on new things, including Windows Update files and the like, but most importantly, this is where you will have to look for old Windows files and so on at this point You can see that this folder will likely be several gigabytes in size and you just put a check mark in front of it, I've already removed it and so you won't see it here, but you will see something called old or previous Windows files or Windows installation files and so on so just tick anything you don't want anymore, those files and when it's done all you have to do is click OK.
It will ask you if you really want to delete files and remember, if you delete the old Windows installation files, you cannot go back in time stuck in the windows you just clicked delete, and you will see magically reclaiming all of the space taken from your computer to your hard drive by the old installation files your hard drive should be pretty nice, you know what I got old? a small windows tablet that only has 16 gigabytes of memory and when i upgraded to windows 10 i only had one gigabyte left, so i actually got the 6 gigabytes of o ld windows files, which is very nice and even here here on my CDrive my old Windows installation files were about 250 gigabytes in size, so it took up a lot of space here and now it's tidied up. It is really nice to have all this storage space, if you want to enjoy my articles subscribe to my channel you will be informed when new articles are online if you have any comments questions anything you want to know or ask questions about anything you would like, maybe something I would like like to make a article please let me know and i will try to help you and try to post a article when i can and hopefully you will come back to my windows channel thanks for watching
