How long does dism RestoreHealth take?

(recommended) You would use /RestoreHealth to scan the image for component store corruption, perform repair operations automatically using Windows Update as the source, and records that corruption to the log file. This can take around 10-15 minutes up to a few hours to finish depending on the level of corruption.

Hello! and welcome to my YouTube channel. If you haven't already subscribed to my YouTube channel, subscribe today and hit the bell icon to receive notifications of my new articles. This article shows you how to repair your Windows 10 using DISM, the command line tool.

In this article we are using DISM to scan and repair the Windows image. Basically, DISM stands for 'Deployment Image Servicing and Management' and is a command line tool that can be used to maintain and prepare Windows images. It's built into the Windows 10 operating system so you can use it with Command Prompt or Windows PowerShell.

First, we scan the state of the Windows image with DISM. To do this, we open the administrative command prompt. You can also use DISM with Windows PowerShell, but I'll show you using Command Prompt in this article.

In the Command Prompt window, we will typeDism / Online / Cleanup-Image / ScanHealth and hit Enter, in a few seconds you will see the Deployment-Image Servicing and Management tool, i.e. h take a few moments or minutes to complete this.

After a few moments, I'm close to reaching 100%. So let's see what result it gives us back. As you can see the result is now here and 'The component store is repairable' means the Windows image is damaged here and has some corruption, namely.

File corruption and we need to fix this image. So we will be using DISM again to repair this Windows image. To do this, we open the administrative command prompt again.

Now in the Windows image repair prompt, we type commandDism / Online / Cleanup-Image / RestoreHealth and press Enter, as usual the DISM tool has started its operation and you can see the progress on the screen and the repair process may take some time depending on whether the Windows image is damaged. So after a few moments you can see that the progress has now increased to around 100%. The message 'The restore operation was completed successfully' is displayed.

This means that the corruption has been fixed by the DISM tool. Now let's run the ScanHealth command again to check the results. To do this, we run the ScanHealth command again, i.e. i.e., Dism / Online / Cleanup-Image / ScanHealth.

This again takes a few moments. And since the progress reaches 100% after a few moments, we are in the process of getting the results of this scan. There should be no corruption as we have already executed the repair command.

So as you can see that the message here is 'No Component Storage Corruption Detected', it means that the Windows image condition is now OK and we have already tried the repair process and the Windows image is now error free. This way we can use DISM to repair our Windows 10 image. Thank you for watching this article.
