In order to delete the contents of the folder, we need a command prompt with administrator rights. However, before making changes to your system, create a system restore point in case changes you make have undesirable effects. In the command prompt, type net stop wuauserv then you want to type net stop bits and hit enter.
Then we go to the C drive and into the Software Distribution folder. What you want to do is delete all of the files and folders inside. You can select all of them and hit delete.
If you cannot delete some of the files, restart your computer and try again. After emptying the folder, return to the command prompt with administrative privileges and type net startw uauserv and press enter net start bits and hitenter. At this point I would suggest restarting your computer.
Assuming you just wanted to rename the SD folder, now let's go back to that prompt, type net stop wu auser vthen again, net stopbits and hit enter. Now what you want to do is type rename spacec colonwindows softwaredistribution, then space softwaredistribution point bak.
